DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1

(Saturday): We take the early morning flight and arrive at Johannesburg. Next we take the regional flight to Cape Town for a 2 night stay. Explore the night life of the vibrant city.

DAY 2:

Cape Town is a port city on South Africa’s southwest coast, on a peninsula beneath the iconic Table Mountain. Undertake the cable car to the top of the Table mountain and explore the city’s myriad landscapes. In the evening spend some time on the beach.

DAY 3:

Today we embark on a 5D/ 4N journey on South Africa’s famed Garden Route that offers a generous dose of the great outdoors, where nature and adventure combine in one perfect playground. Country roads perfectly frame both the rolling farmlands and endless flora and fauna.

Depart Cape Town early on Monday morning and head for Hermanus. Follow the scenic coastal road, stopping at Betties Bay to view a colony of endangered African penguins. Spend the afternoon in the seaside resort town of Hermanus, famous for the hundreds of Southern right whales during whale season (July to November) as well as its many shops, restaurants and markets. Drive to Cape Agulhas in the afternoon to discover the southernmost tip of Africa. Visit a viewpoint known as the “real” place, and see where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet. Stay the night in Cape Agulhas.

DAY 4:

Travel along scenic Route 62 on route to Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo, known as the “Ostrich Capital of the World,” and experience South Africa’s longest wine route. Discover the subterranean beauty of the Cango Caves on a guided adventure tour, and then sample the local wine. Spend the night in Oudtshoorn.

DAY 5:

Head over the spectacular Outeniqua Mountain Pass after breakfast, and explore the Wilderness National Park. Next, go to the famous town of Knysna via the spectacular Lake District of the Garden Route. Explore the upmarket town, filled with curios, restaurants and a picturesque waterfront, where you can have lunch and do some shopping in your free time. Continue to the Knysna Heads viewpoint for some spectacular views over the Knysna River estuary and Indian Ocean. Spend the late afternoon exploring Sedgefield and its beaches, and enjoy the spectacular views before you retire for the night.

DAY 6:

Enjoy breakfast, and then depart for the Tsitsikamma National Park. Stop at Bloukrans Bridge to see the world’s highest bungee jump bridge along the way. Spend the afternoon in Tsitsikamma National Park, and discover its unique combination of indigenous forest and Indian Ocean coastline. Benefit from a wide choice of activities in the park, including long and short hikes, crossing a suspension bridge or swimming. Leave the Garden Route in the late afternoon, and head for “Big 5” country at Addo Elephant National Park. Stay the night at the Avoca River Cabins in the Addo area.

DAY 7:

Spend the morning exploring Addo Elephant National Park for up to 2-3 hours. Look for indigenous animals in the 28,000-hectare national reserve, including approximately 600 elephants along with Cape buffalo, lions, black rhinos, warthogs, zebras, eland, kudu, hartebeest and many more. After an exciting morning of game viewing, drive to Port Elizabeth and check in to your hotel between 13:00 and 14:00. Afternoon is free to explore Port Elizabeth.

DAY 8:

Port Elizabeth is a city on Algoa Bay in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province. A major port, it’s also known for its numerous beaches. The Donkin Heritage Trail takes in the Old Hill neighbourhood’s Victorian landmarks. Coastal boat tours spot whales and rare seabirds Take the half day city tour of Port Elizabeth, before taking the afternoon flight to Johannesburg for a 2 night stay.

DAY 9:

Today we explore the Johannesburg city through the Hop on Hop off bus. We begin the tour on the Green Route which visits the leafy Northern suburbs stopping at Zoo Lake, the Johannesburg Zoo and the Military Museum before reaching Constitution Hill. This is also the interchange point to join the Red City Tour that visits downtown Johannesburg. Stops on this route include the “Roof of Africa” viewing deck on the 50th floor of the Carlton Center, the James Hall Transport Museum, the Gold Reef City Theme park, the Apartheid Museum before returning to the interchange point at Constitution Hill.

DAY 10:

Today we shall undertake a full day tour heading west, passing the scenic Hartbeespoort Dam en route to the Pilanesberg National Park. The park is situated adjacent to the famous Sun City Resort complex. The eroded crater of a long-extinct volcano is the setting of the Pilanesberg National Park. Here you will enjoy a game drive accompanied by your experienced guide. The park is home to an abundance of wildlife, not least being Africa’s legendary Big Five. Lunch is followed by a short drive to Sun City, where the afternoon is devoted to exploring this magnificent resort. Its unique architectural style, man-made lakes and tropical gardens are a feast for the eye.

We return to Johannesburg late evening, and after dinner head to the airport to board the late night flight to Nairobi, capital of Kenya

DAY 11:

We reach Nairobi in the morning, and shall explore the city for a half day guided tour in the afternoon. The city has Nairobi National Park, a large game reserve known for breeding endangered black rhinos and home to giraffes, zebras and lions. Next to it is a well-regarded elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Nairobi is also often used as a jumping-off point for safari trips elsewhere in Kenya.

DAY 12:

Today we embark on a 4 day Safari adventure to Lake Nakuru national park & Masai Mara reserve. Drive to the Lake Nakuru National Park. Enjoy a morning game-viewing drive around the park followed by lunch at the lodge. Then an afternoon game-viewing drive, returning to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay (lunch and dinner included).

DAY 13:

Drive across the floor of the Rift Valley and the Loita Plains to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, arriving in time for lunch. Then enjoy an afternoon game-viewing drive, returning to your lodge/tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay (breakfast, lunch, and dinner included).

DAY 14:

Enjoy a full day in the Maasai Mara with early morning and afternoon game-viewing drives. Today shall be a game viewing extravaganza! Masai Mara Game reserve remains the most exciting wildlife eco-system in the Natural world. It is host to the highest and most varied concentration of wild animals than any other wildlife park in the region. (breakfast, lunch, and dinner included).

DAY 15:

After an early morning game drive we will return to Nairobi, arriving at around 4.00 PM (breakfast, lunch included).

DAY 16:

Depart to the airport early morning, with a load of memories, to take the flight back to India.
